If I could afford it I would buy every single item on this list for home and self improvement…

Dyeing your own yarn is REALLY easy… and if you’re lazy (like me) and deliberately forget about the whole alun thing (a remedy used to fixate the colour to prevent bleading) it costs next to nothing as well. It’s a little late for picking berries and such, but lichen is an year-round affair.

Mia: “Really easy”? I’m not quite sure that I believe you ;) And I’m not too sure about the lichen-thing either! But if you make some I’ll be happy to be a customer…

Hah! Easy as pie. I did it for my annual 4H project at 11, so there is no reason a crafty lady like your self couldn’t have a go at it. The trick is simply to never ever let it boil, and to be reeeeally careful when stiring.

Next fall, my darling - you and me, some berries in a bucket and a whole lot of yarn?

That sounds like a date I really, really would not want to miss out on! :D And even if I’m way older than 11, doing this by myself can only end in tears. Doing it with you though is more a recipe for a wonderful time!

    *blushing*

I got myself all exited and crafty over this, so I dragged my 13 y.o niece out hunting for lichen and tried to colour me some yarn this weekend, aaand… Well. As far as I can remember it was supposed to turn solid brown, not a pale yellow. But I did bring hot chocolate and M&M’s, so I was still the coolest aunt in the woods.

Since I will definitely (!) be moving a lot closer next year, we can get crafty together. :)
